Running shoes are one of the essential equipment for men's running. There are many types of running shoes, so how to choose the cross-country running shoes that suit you?

      1. Heel

When purchasing, you should pinch it with your thumb and index finger several times to test how well the heel of a pair of shoes supports your feet. Good heel support ensures your foot lands correctly and prevents sprains.

      2. Is the shoe size appropriate?

Obviously, if a pair is too big (or too small) for you, it has no value to you. For trail running shoes, the length of the internal space of the shoe should be 13-15mm longer than the length of your foot. When trying on shoes, remove the shoelaces, put your feet into the shoes, and use one finger as a reference.

      3. The surface of the shoes

As we all know, cross-country running shoes are generally divided into membrane-less and membrane-less shoes. The choice mainly depends on personal preference. Generally speaking, membrane-less shoes have better air permeability and the sweat on the feet is easier to evaporate. However, membrane-less shoes are also relatively easy to get water. If membraneless shoes have more mesh (especially near the midsole/outsole), water can be drained out more easily during your run.

      4. Shoe support

When choosing shoes, choose shoes with good heel and arch support, which can increase your stability. Most people's feet are concave, so a pair of shoes is very important to support the arch of the foot. Especially when you are running on uneven ground.

      5. Midsole

For trail running shoes, the toe of the shoe should be able to bend upward easily, while the lateral direction should be able to maintain a good level of stiffness. If you are not afraid of ruining your shoes, you can judge the midsole of a pair of cross-country running shoes in this way. Hold the shoe in both hands, grasp the toe part of the shoe with one hand, and drag the heel with the other hand, then bend the toe part of the shoe upward, and then twist the toe part laterally.

      6. Insoles

This is a person's subjective feeling. Generally speaking, thick insoles are suitable for harder roads, but they also increase the weight of the shoes and reduce the real feeling of your feet on the road.

      7. Outsole

Nowadays, many people only pay attention to whether it is V-bottomed or not. Here I would like to draw your attention to this important detail. That is to look at the depth of the outsole tooth pattern. If the depth of the tooth pattern of a pair of cross-country running shoes is shallower than the thickness of a pound coin, then the shoe has almost no grip. Especially in wetlands and grasslands. Moreover, such shoes will wear out faster on harder roads.

      8. Baotou

Use your thumbs to press the top, sides and bottom of the bun to see if it is firm. Running downhill on bumpy roads places higher demands on the toe part of the shoe. Therefore, when buying, you should choose some shoes with relatively hard toe caps to better protect your feet.

Generally speaking, trail running shoes should be lighter and have nicer colors and styles. However, if you participate in a cross-country running competition, be sure not to wear new shoes; run on different road conditions in advance to feel whether the shoes are suitable.
