Minimally invasive cervical cancer may recur, but the probability is relatively low. The risk of recurrence is mainly related to factors such as depth of tumor invasion, degree of differentiation, and resection margin status.

Recurrence of minimally invasive cervical cancer is more common when the depth of invasion of the primary lesion exceeds 3 mm, invasion of the lymphovascular space, or positive surgical margins. Such patients require strict follow-up after surgery. Gynecological examination and HPV testing should be performed every 3 months for the first two years after surgery, combined with imaging evaluation if necessary. Recurrence may manifest as recurrence of local lesions or lymph node metastasis. Abnormal vaginal bleeding and increased secretion are common symptoms.

A small number of patients may still experience long-term recurrence even if their tumor invasion is less than 3 mm and they have no high-risk factors, which is usually related to persistent high-risk HPV infection. This type of recurrence usually occurs more than 5 years after surgery, and the lesions are mostly isolated and progress slowly. Regular cervical cytology screening can detect abnormal changes at an early stage.

It is recommended to maintain regular follow-up after surgery and avoid risk factors such as smoking. HPV vaccination can reduce the risk of other types of viral infections. If abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge occurs, you should seek medical attention promptly for review.
