The core difference lies in the logic of the goal - beauty is a result-oriented "beautification need", which is essentially an "additional point" adjustment based on the skin's condition, while skin health is a bottom-line-oriented "physiological need", which is the basic state for the skin to normally perform barrier, metabolism, immune and other functions. To put it bluntly, one controls "whether it looks good" and the other controls "whether it can be used normally."
It sounds easy to understand, but when it comes to your own face, 80% of people are confused. I have been working as a skin care supervisor for seven or eight years. I met a 22-year-old girl a while ago. In order to look good on camera at her graduation ceremony, she applied a high-concentration whitening mask for a week and temporarily added a fruit acid peel. She was indeed two degrees whiter that day. Her skin was clear and outstanding in the graduation photos. As a result, her face became red and hot every now and then for the next half month, even with regular use. The normal moisturizing lotion stung when applied, but a skin check revealed that the skin barrier was moderately damaged. It took more than two months of maintenance to return to the previous state. She was still aggrieved at first, saying, "Why did my face hurt when I was just doing a regular beauty treatment?" She did not realize that her epidermis was naturally thin, and the combination of intense skin rejuvenation and whitening had already crossed the red line of healthy skin.
Many colleagues have also talked to me and said that the current compliant beauty programs are no longer just about looking good on the surface. For example, the loss of collagen in mature muscles will not only make them look loose and wrinkled, but also reduce their ability to retain water and resist external stimulation. Compliant radio frequency programs stimulate collagen regeneration, which not only achieves a firming and anti-wrinkle beauty effect, but also helps the skin return to a more stable and healthy state. The two are not in conflict. This is true, but the premise is that you must first understand the bottom line of your skin health, and you cannot force yourself to pursue beauty effects that exceed the tolerance of your skin.
I often make an analogy to the clients who come to me for consultation. The relationship between the two is like growing a pot of juice rose on your balcony. For skin health, you have to add fertilizer and water on time. Don’t expose it under the sun at noon in summer, and don’t leave it by the window to freeze in winter to ensure that it can sprout and bloom normally without yellowing leaves. Beauty is equivalent to cutting it into a staggered plant shape, trimming off the spent flowers, and finding a good light angle to make it more photogenic. You can't cut off half of the root system to make the plant compact, nor can you paint the petals with pigment to make them more colorful in photos, right? The flower withered within two days, and no matter how beautiful it looked, it couldn't be retained.
There is also a very common misunderstanding. Many people regard the uniform standard of beauty as the standard of health. They think that the skin must be white enough, have zero pores, and not even a trace of dry lines or redness to be healthy. In fact, this is not the case. I once met a girl who was born with thin skin and had faint red blood streaks on her face. She had never had allergies or acne since she was a child, and her water-oil balance was stable. In order to remove the red blood streaks that could not be noticed without looking carefully, she blindly used a lot of "powerful redness removal" products. In the end, she developed sensitive skin with recurring seasonal allergies. Her originally good and healthy skin was ruined by the "perfect standard" of beauty. It is a pity. In fact, there is really no need to oppose the two concepts. First, take care of your health, and then choose the appropriate beauty method within the tolerance of your skin. You can be beautiful without suffering, which is better than anything else.
