Be careful! These three foods are poisonous
1. Almonds
Almonds are one of the most useful and amazing seeds. The unique taste and good suitability for cooking have made almonds the most popular ingredient in pies in kitchens for centuries. The most flavorful almond is the bitter almond. Almonds have the strongest aroma and have been popular for many centuries. One problem, however, is that almonds contain cyanide.
Bitter almonds must be processed to remove toxins before eating. Despite this, bitter almonds are still sold illegally in some countries. New Zealand is among them. Alternatively, you can use almonds from apricot pits, which have similar taste and toxicity. Heating can remove the toxicity of almonds. In fact, you may not know that it is illegal to sell raw almonds in the United States. Therefore, the almonds you buy now have been heated to remove toxicity and bacteria.
2. Cherry leaves and seeds
Cherries are a common fruit that can be used in cooking, making wine, or eaten raw. They come from the same family as plums, apricots and peaches. The leaves and seeds of all these fruits contain extremely high levels of toxic compounds. Almond is also a member of this family, however, it is the only fruit that is harvested specifically for its seeds.
When cherry seeds are crushed, chewed, or simply damaged, they produce hydrocyanic acid. Be sure not to suck or chew cherry seeds when eating cherries in the future.
3. Apple seeds
Like cherries and almonds, apple seeds contain cyanide, but in much smaller amounts. Apple seeds can be eaten accidentally, but you won't feel sick until you eat a lot.
An apple seed will not poison you, but if you eat too much, you may die from poisoning. It is recommended that you try not to hold an apple-eating contest. By the way, if you want to eat an apple and find a bug inside, hopefully not half a bug, you can put the apple into a bowl of salt water and the bug will die.
